We are receiving more inquiries for replacing heat treated and fumigated pallets with corrugated pallets due to the international agreement attempting to stop the migration of harmful insects between countries. We have been told the paperwork using a corrugated pallet is reduced and, of course, it weighs less and is easier to handle. In many cases our corrugated pallets are less expensive.
Packaging Bubble and Foam Pricing
Effective with orders placed on April 30th and later all roll plastic packaging, bubble and foam, will be invoiced 7% higher due to the poly resin suppliers keeping their prices artificially high.

Freight Shipments Rise 1/2%
Per the DOT freight shipments rose 1/2 per cent in February over January. February freight shipments are 3.6% higher than last year.

Polyethylene (poly bags) and Polystyrene resins are again increasing but are not the result of market forces but of resin supplier price discipline. Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) is one of the few resins which have increased in demand.

Corrugated Replaces Wood
So far this month we have replaced wood reels with corrugated reels and wood pallets with corrugated pallets for two of our clients. If you are shipping internationally, using corrugated pallets will help you save time, weight and handling issues. The same is true using corrugated reels in place of wood reels.
