Pizza Boxes

We recently introduced a new product line to our line-up – Pizza Boxes and Pizza Circles.

Our pizza boxes and pizza circles are manufactured from very sturdy B-flute corrugated material. The corrugated used to make our pizza boxes and circles is made from post corrugated waste and not from post consumer waste. This helps insure the strength and cleanliness of our products.

You can order your customized pizza boxes in either white one side or kraft both sides.
Our pizza boxes and pizza circles are packaged in corrugated shipping boxes for ease of handling and storage.

Things to Consider When Pricing a Box

It’s amazing how something as simple as a box can be quite complicated to price. Here are the questions we’ll be asking you when you call:

  • Size of the box (Length x Width x Depth).
  • Box Style (RSC, FOL, ect).
  • What goes in the box.
  • How much weight will the box need to hold.
  • How the box will ship – UPS, FedEx or Common Carrier.
  • The material or board grade the box is to be made of (determined by the answers to the above questions).
  • The type of outside liner – Kraft, Oyster White or Bleach White.
  • The type of manufacturers joint – Glued, Stitched or Taped.
  • Plain or printed.  If printed, number of colors and number of panels.
  • Pallets or no pallets.
  • Quantity and ship-to location.

Corrugated Reels and Cardboard Spools

Our corrugated reels and cardboard spools are a cost-effective alternative to wood, metal and plastic reels and spools.  Like to do things yourself?  We can also supply our reels and spools in kit form.  Worried about too much dust from corrugated flanges?  Our cardboard flanges provide a tough, dust-free alternative.

  • Packaging reels and spools for metal stampers, cable, flexible tubing, wire, film, plastics, solder, rope, twine, chain, extrusions, ribbon, and many other applications.
  • More cost-effective than wood, metal, or plastic reels and spools.
  • Our fiber cores, pop up (collapsible), and corrugated build up cores are available in various thicknesses and diameters.
  • Heavy duty, double laminated flange ends for large volume applications are available.
  • Our heavy-duty reels and spools are rated for 100 lbs and greater.
  • Stock flanges range from 3” up to 30”, depending on your needs. Custom sizes are available.
  • Flange printing is available.
  • 100% recyclable.
  • Corrugated pop-up reels are ideal for reducing costs associated with freight and storage.
  • Corrugated reels and cardboard spools can be provided in kit form with plastic or metal plugs. Ideal for reducing freight costs and storage space. Required for products that need to be assembled before being put on a reel or spool.

Poly Prices on the Rise Again

Recently, we’ve been receiving a rash of price increase letters from our vendors who supply us with polyethylene (PE) products.  The lack of supply, strong demand and planned and unplanned production outages are being given as reasons for this latest increase.  As always, we are working with our vendors to limit the impact this latest increase will have on you, our customer.

When a Box is Not a Box

The corrugated carton is not just a box.  Believe it or not, a lot of design and engineering goes into each corrugated box that we sell.  Not only is the size, shape, weight and durability of the product to be packaged important but so are the shipping and storage environments the product and its associated box are likely to experience.  As time goes on, we’ll be touching on these and other subjects related to boxes, box design and packaging in general.  In the meantime, we’ve put together a list of corrugated box facts that should put to rest the idea that a box is just a box…

  • A box that is palletized should not be in the shape of a cube.  But when palletizing a cube may be a better choice.
  • Heavy duty reinforced paper tape is a better box closure than staples.
  • A variety of coatings can be applied to either side of a box.
  • Sometimes ordering only a few more boxes will save a goodly percentage in your piece price.
  • An “end loader” uses less board that a “top loader”.
  • DO NOT store your boxes near a heat source.
  • Flat bed die cutting is more precise than rotary die cutting.
  • Some military grades of corrugated are readily available.
  • The best use of corrugated material as a RSC (Regular Slotted Container) is when the ratio of length x width x depth is 2-to-1-to-2.
  • Place your printing no closer than a 1/2″ to the horizontal score lines.
  • Manufacturer’s Joint: Tape is the weakest joint.  A “flowable” product probably requires wire stitches.  Glued joints are the least expensive.
  • Boxes are made out of paper.  Paper reacts to the moisture level in it’s surrounding environment.  Low humidity levels will dry the paper, making it feel stiffer and thus stronger.  High humidity levels will make the paper feel softer and thus weaker.
  • Advancements in technology have led to the creation of large-format digital presses that are ideal for 4 color, small quantity runs of corrugated cartons and displays.

The Eleven Commandments of Good Business

We came upon this next bit of information, quite a few years back while surfing the web.  Located somewhere in the deep, dark recesses of the web, this little gem has been a daily reminder of why we are here and, more importantly, whom we are here for:

The Eleven Commandments of Good Business

The Customer…

  1. … is the most important person in our business.
  2. … is not dependent on us – we are dependent on them.
  3. … is not an interruption of our work – they are the purpose of it.
  4. … does us a favor when they call – we are not doing them a favor by   serving them.
  5. … is part of our business – not an outsider.
  6. … is not a cold statistic – he or she is a flesh and blood human being with feeling and emotions like our own.
  7. … is not someone to argue or match wits with.
  8. … is a person who brings us their wants – it is our job to fill those wants.
  9. … is deserving of the most courteous and attentive treatment we can give them.
  10. … is the person who makes it possible to pay your salary whether you are a truck driver, plant employee, office employee, salesperson or manager.
  11. … is the life-blood of this and every other business.
